LAS ROCKDIVAS, by Yoly

In 2001, before I joined LOS DESPRECIABLES I had met Juan A., who would become my musical father, my teacher. Four years before, I had said goodbye to music, after seven years struggling with a heavy metal band, having been close to fame. I left deeply depressed, thinking that all those years had been a waste of time.

Juan A. and I worked at the same TV network. Everyday I watched bands, singers, artists who made me think of "the old times" as a singer, and the bug bit me again. I'd heard that Juan A. had a band and wrote songs. I had to know if I'd been wrong leaving music, so one day I came up to him, told him I was a singer and gave him a demo. He's the only person (besides my parents and my husband) who's ever believed in me. A few days later he took me to his studio and we recorded two beautiful songs: "CERCA DE TU BOCA" (Close to Your Mouth) and "LATIDO EN LAS VENAS" (Heartbeat in the Veins). After those two songs he took me to a rehearsal of LOS DESPRECIABLES, I learnt some songs and sang them with the band at a gig. In December 2001 I was baptised as Yoli Despreciable: since then, I've never departed them or him. One of the best things in my life was meeting them.

CERCA DE TU BOCA (CLOSE TO YOUR MOUTH)

This song was my musical rebirth. What can you say of your first song? My dream was to sing a blues with some rock touches, suggestive, vibrating. With a guitar solo that gives you gooseflesh, some really seductive lyrics… That song was before my eyes… I had won the lottery!!! It's a song full of strength, it makes you feel something else, and I'm closely related to it.

SIN TI (Without You)

A deep song, a love song. It tells you how strong love can be, it can deprive the other person of everything. She's nothing without him, she can't see the day, her soul is hurting, she has no feelings, she can't breath, her life is meaningless. A beautiful song full of feeling.
